What a night, what a night. Talk about a
sweep. When Rami Ibrahim, owner of Sitan Gym
Philadelphia and professional world class
fighter, was asked how did he feel after the
show, he replied, “Tonight I saw the fruits
of my labor”. It was Friday September 12,
2008 in South Philadelphia, another Evolved
promotion at the famous New Alhambra Arena,
where 3 of Sitan Gym Philadelphia’s fighters
fought. This time around there was another
new edition to the Sitan family, with Gabe
Dougherty (a Muay Thai student who began his
training a couple of years ago at Upper
Darby Kickboxing and now apart of Sitan Gym
for an experience of a lifetime), bringing a
past record of 6wins and only 1 loss, all
eyes was on him. In addition, the hard
hitting Tim Amorim (3W-2L) and the skilled &
focused Osvaldo Dominguez were to bring
excitement that night.
First up, out of the 3 Sitan Gym
Philadelphia fighters , who also started up
the show with a bang, was 22 years of age
Northeast Philadelphia’s own, Osvaldo
Dominguez (2W-0L-1KO). Coming off an
exciting win by 1st round
knockout last month, this time Osvaldo was
facing Frank Morris (0W-1L out of Boston
Muay Thai). Osvaldo looked to be more
professional this fight around and
professional was he ever. He broke his
opponent’s ego by not allowing him 2 get one
good hit in. Making him miss and making him
pay. “I told him look like a professional.
Whether you are losing or winning, it should
not change your image or style”. After 3
rounds Osvaldo Dominguez won by unanimous
decision.
Second up was 18 years of age, also from
Northeast Philadelphia, Tim Amorim (3W-2L).
Up until now, none of Tim’s opponents were
his level. No, I should rephrase that,
because true all of them had more experience
then him, but yet Tim proved to them that
even with their advantage of more experience
they still weren’t on HIS level. On
September 12 at the Evolved event, he faced
a tough and experienced Julio Pena (2W-3L
out of Boston Muay Thai). Tim controlled him
throughout the fight by executing what he’s
known for a hard right middle kick and a
beautiful strong right hand. Early in the 1st
round Tim gave his opponent a black eye and
cut his left eye in the 3rd.
After 3 rounds Tim Amorim defeated Julio
Pena by majority decision.
Last but not least for Sitan Gym
Philadelphia, who was also the co-main event
of the Evolved show, was Gabe Dougherty
(6W-1L-1KO). Rami said, “I was excited to
see Gabe fight because I have only been
training him for less then 2 month.” In his
hard training, it was noticed he is an
aggressive fighter and does not go back.
Therefore, Rami put some western boxing
movement into him which only made Gabe a
full package. Gabe’s opponent that night was
Colin Dwyer (2W-2L out of Boston Muay Thai.
It was told that his opponent is a very
skilled fighter so when Bishop Holmes (most
experienced under Rami Ibrahim) asked Gabe
how you plan on handling that, Gabe replied,
“I’m going to knock him out sir”. Well, Gabe
kept his word and won by knocking him out
with a vicious left hook to the jaw in the 1st
round.
What a way to close the show. That night
everyone saw what Rami Ibrahim and his Sitan
Gym Philadelphia fighters are about. Rami
would like to thank all the students who
came support their Sitan Gym fighters,
especially STEVE for being the loudest one
there lol.
