Go see if
anyone in Muay Thai history started training with no
fighting experience and a year and half later
becomes Muay Thai World Champion. Well, Sitan Gym
Phillys own, Timothy Amorim, did it. Here is a
brief history on route to Timothy Amorims journey to
becoming World Champion. Late February of 2008,
Timothy Amorim walked into Rami Ibrahims Sitan Gym,
Philadelphia location, and told him he was
interested in learning Muay Thai as a hobby.10 month
later he fought Brandon Mickens for the WKA United
States Muay Thai title and lost a unanimous decision
to him. June of this year, Aziz Nabihs Sitan Gym,
New York location, Omar Ahmed also faced Brandon
Mickens but this time for the WKA World Championship
and "SUPPOSEDLY" Brandon Mickens won. A couple
weeks after that fight Timothy Amorim went to the
WKA Nationals tournament and competed in the 132 lb
division. He won the tournament and become the new
WKA North American Muay Thai Champion. September 25,
2009, Timothy Amorim gets his revenge for both him
self, Omar Ahmed and Sitan Gym. He beats, Brian
Crenshaws (president of WKAUSA) fighter, former WKA
World Champion, Brandon Mickens, in a unanimous
decision. Deja vu, the other way around. Rami
Ibrahim, Aziz Nabih and Timothy Amorim would like to
thank Brandon Mickens for giving us that chance.
Words from Rami Ibrahim that were said that night to
Brandon Mickens, "Brandon, belt or no belt, your a
champion. You fought great and showed a big heart.
Your still a champion, no matter what."
